A recent article on Yahoo! Beauty describes a barrage of Twitter speculation after a performance by pop superstar Lady Gaga on the United Kingdom version of the “The X Factor.” The tweeters were apparently impressed by what they saw as the singer’s dramatically different look and speculated that she might have had a rhinoplasty (nose job) or some other procedure. While we have no opinion on whether or not the famed diva might have had work done, the public fascination only underlines the reasons so many people of all ages pursue facial procedures. There are many reasons patients may obtain the most popular facial procedures. These include:
- Rhinoplasty. This type of procedure, more commonly referred to as a nose job, is one of the oldest and most popular of all plastic surgeries. The nose is perhaps the single most prominent feature on the human face, so it’s only natural that it’s something we tend to focus on and frequently wish to improve. Rhinoplasties are sometimes also performed to deal with health issues, such as a deviated septum. In all cases, it’s crucial to have a truly qualified plastic surgeon perform the procedure, as the nose is not only a key facial feature, but an important sensory organ and breathing apparatus.
- Eyelid Lifts. Known medically as blepharoplasty, These procedures are often performed to deal with droopy eyelids and bags under the eyes, which may make patients look tired and years older than their actual age. They are also sometimes performed simply to create a more attractive and alert look and the results can often be truly dramatic.
- Facelifts. Traditional surgical facelifts are among the oldest of all facial procedures and are still the gold standard for long-term facial rejuvenation. However, an increasing number of injectable based procedures, the best known being Botox, are highly effective for dealing with wrinkling and other problems. These products are often being obtained by younger patients and that a growing number of innovative treatments are becoming available that are able to handle a host of issues. One of the newest of these is Kybella, which can eliminate double chins without the need for surgery.
The truth is, you don’t have to be a superstar pop diva to be interested in a procedure, and we look forward to helping women and men from all walks of life look and feel their absolute best.
