Frequently Asked Questions

Will Beverly Hills Physicians share my name and address information?

No, we don’t share any of your personal information with other companies. They are strictly confidential and are used for us to contact our client.

Why does Beverly Hills Physicians require my e-mail address?

We will send you a map and directions to our office.

How does a physician qualify to be part of Beverly Hills Physicians?

Surgeons will get to be part of our group only after passing a strict screening process and verification of their credentials. We verify that our members have medical licenses in good standing with the medical board of California. We require professional references as well as a background check with the National Practicioner Data Bank or American Medical Association. In addition, we constantly monitor patient feedback.

Do physicians pay to be a part of Beverly Hills Physicians website?

No, physicians do not and cannot pay to be part of our referral network. They have to qualify for and pass our rigorous evaluation to be listed as part of our group.

Do I have to come in for a consultation?

We understand that you may be a little apprehensive about your visit, but our friendly doctors will put you at ease, answer all your questions and recommend the procedure(s) best suited for your personal needs and goals.

Anesthesia

Your surgeon will prescribe anesthesia to minimize discomfort while he/she performs the treatment or surgery. The different types of anesthetics used are as follows:

  1. General Anesthetic
This is a full anesthetic, carried out in hospital under the care of a qualified anesthetist. It enables the surgeon to carry out your operation without any discomfort to you, or knowledge that the operation is taking place. Operations carried out under general anesthetic may be done as outpatient or inpatient care.
  2. Sedation with local anesthetic
A sedating drug is given to you in order that you sleep throughout the operation. This is administered by a qualified anesthetist who cares for you during the operation. The surgeon will also use a local anesthetic at the operation site to ensure the area is numb and that you are not disturbed from your ‘sleep’. Most operations carried out under sedation enable you to return home the same day of treatment.
  3. Local Anesthetic
The surgeon injects a numbing solution to the area that is being treated to minimize any discomfort you may feel during the operation. You will be fully awake during the treatment and able to immediately discharge when finished.
Scarring

Patients having cosmetic surgery want to improve the way they look. It is important therefore that scarring is kept to a minimum. We have this in the forefront of our minds when carrying out treatment and always aim to keep scars as small as possible and positioned as discreetly as possible.

We strongly recommend that scars are kept out of the sun or protected with a sun block cream, as sun damage can slow or prevent the healing and fading of scars. With correct care and protection after surgery, most scars fade to become barely noticeable.

Stitches, Sutures and Skin Clips

Depending on the type of treatment, usually after cosmetic surgery some form of skin stitch needs to be removed. Depending on the operation, these may be removed between 3 and 14 days afterwards. An appointment will be made for you at your nearest Beverly Hills Physicians clinic.

Bruising, Swelling and Discomfort

By the nature of it, cosmetic surgery is quite superficial and does not generally cause much swelling or bruising. Within 24 hours of surgery, discomfort is usually abated with mild oral analgesia. Depending on the type of surgery you have and your own healing process, the surgeon will explain what sort of recovery you should expect.

Recovery Advice

Pre and post-operatively, patients are generally advised to avoid smoking, alcohol, aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (eg. Ibuprofen). All these can have an adverse effect on your recovery, slowing down the healing process or causing other complications.

It is generally advisable to refrain from strenuous activities while stitches and dressings are still in place. Your surgeon will inform you how long to refrain from different activities depending on the surgery you have.

Results of the Surgery

The redefining of features gives results that are generally permanent and need no future review. The full results of surgery are obtained generally between 4 weeks and up to several months following surgery.

Aftercare

When necessary, appointments are made for you to attend Beverly Hills Physicians for any post-treatment care.

Our physicians are always available to advise and care for you to ensure a smooth and safe recovery. Most patients attend the clinic after surgery at one week for removal of stitches, six weeks for a check up with your surgeon and and a few months for final discharge. We are of course pleased to help you after this time should the need arise.

Can Plastic Surgery Remove Scars?

Not entirely, but we can minimize them and do our best to make them as inconspicuous as possible. Our skilled and experienced plastic surgeons use the latest minimally invasive technology combined with careful placement of incisions to conceal scars in every way possible. For example, the incisions for tummy tuck procedures are often below the bikini line. Moreover, topical treatments and the passage of time can help to lighten scarring. Finally, plastic surgery revision procedures are available that can reduce the amount of visible scarring in many cases.

I have a specific issue in mind but I’m not sure what the best approach is. What should I do?

We get it! There have never been more options available to people who want to look and feel their best. Our consultants and in-house medical staff are extremely well-versed in the many options now available. If you’re interested in having something done but are not sure about the best approach, just reach out to us by phone or online and we can begin the process of helping you to make a well-informed choice that will work for you.
