Collagen, also know as Zyderm® and Zyplast®, is a non-surgical approach to replacing the skin’s natural collagen and smoothing out facial lines. These lines are caused by the wearing down of your skin’s natural collagen, which is a network of fibers providing the supporting structure for your skin. Collagen Replacement Therapy helps to smooth facial lines and augment the skin by supplementing the collagen under the skin. Collagen can be injected in vertical lip lines and along the edge of the lip to enhance the definition of the lip border and make the lips appear fuller and more youthful.

Collagen was the most popular lip filler product in the 1980s and 90s, however, more modern alternatives such as Juvederm and Restylane have become the preferred choice for Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeons. These alternatives are longer lasting, have generally better outcomes, and also have a lower risk for allergic reaction, as they do not contain the bovine products found in Collagen.
