Ready for a Beautiful 2024?

Soon enough New Year’s Day will be here. For a lot of us, that will be a time for reflection about all aspects of our lives — including how we feel about our appearance! If you’re thinking about getting work done right now, however, please understand that the phones at plastic surgeons’ offices tend to start ringing in early January. New Year’s resolutions can be good motivators but they can also create a winter-crunch for health and beauty providers.

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with making an important decision around New Year’s if that’s what you need to do. If you’ve already decided you want a procedure, however, there’s no reason to wait. Remember, after you make that first phone call or email, you will have to schedule a consultation and, after that, there may be a wait before the doctor can schedule a procedure. Obviously, the earlier you make an appointment for a consultation, the earlier you can obtain the procedure you want.

Now, we understand that decisions can be hard to make and it’s just human nature to put off making choices. At the same time, procrastinating is never ideal.

At Beverly Hills Physicians in Southern California, we’ve helped countless patients gain confidence and improve their lives with procedures ranging from buttock and breast augmentation to facelifts, Botox, and rhinoplasty. We’ve also helped people make up their minds about what procedures they wanted or even if they wanted a procedure at all. There are no wrong answers; the only person whose opinion matters here is you.

We’ll go into a few of the questions people often ask before getting plastic surgery or a cosmetic procedure.

Is Plastic Surgery for People Like Me?

If you really want plastic surgery, the answer is probably “yes.” Of course, not everyone is a candidate for every procedure but if you’re generally healthy and have realistic expectations about the outcome, you can probably obtain a procedure if you want it.

Also, please don’t get hung up on the coverage of plastic surgery in the celebrity press, where unfair judgments on people who get procedures are often the norm. It’s not like you’re forcing strangers to get rhinoplasty. It’s you taking on the responsibility for your life and it’s no one else’s business.

Finally, because of the way plastic surgery is publicized, many people assume it’s only for people in show business or the extremely well-off. The truth is that people in all areas of life get plastic surgery for an assortment of reasons. Yes, actors and models sometimes get it for career reasons, but so do people who work in fields – not only show business – where appearance matters. Many more, of course, get them for all kinds of personal reasons. Some patients might get a Brazilian breast lift (BBL) or buttock augmentation to help them look fabulous; others may get a breast reduction or ear-pinning (otoplasty) procedure simply to avoid unwanted attention, positive or negative. If you truly want a procedure and are physically and psychologically ready to have it, it’s for you.

Can I Afford Plastic Surgery?

We won’t lie to you. Plastic surgery is never cheap and, except for cases where there may be a strictly medical need for a procedure, it won’t be covered by insurance. In most cases, you will have to pay out of pocket. However, if you know you want a procedure and are in fair financial shape, you can probably get it, but it may require a little budgeting. At Beverly Hills Physicians, however, we can help with that. Our consultants are experts at putting together payment plans that can put a procedure within the range of most budgets.

Are You Psychologically Prepared?

Ultimately, this is a question only you, in consultation with your medical team, can answer. Sometimes, however, the only way to find out is to make an appointment with a reputable plastic surgeon who can help you evaluate your situation and look at what procedures might benefit you the most. Often, exploring your options can help you clarify if a procedure makes sense for you.

Finally, if you don’t think you’re ready for surgery, Botox and facial fillers are just two of the growing number of effective non-surgical plastic surgery alternatives. It’s never a bad time to see what’s out there.
