October is a month whose focus has long been on raising awareness for breast cancer survivors and victims, and the ongoing effort to find a cure. Here at BHP, it is also a time to give patients another outlet for helping women in need. With our Bra Collection Campaign, we are encouraging patients and non-patients alike to donate their new and gently used bras to support the countless women who cannot afford them due to illness or other issues. We invite patients and members of the community to drop any donations at the donation boxes in our offices, and we encourage other individuals and businesses to spread the word about this important cause.

While it is still important to shine a spotlight specifically on those affected by breast cancer, the commitment to spreading awareness makes Breast Cancer Awareness Month the perfect time to address other female-centric causes that may be overlooked. One of these causes is trying to make sure that every woman has access to the clean and properly-sized bras that provide them the support they need, At BHP, we are perfectly equipped to be a leader in bra collection. When women undergo a breast procedure such as augmentation or reduction, their breasts will end up being a different size, meaning that they will need an entirely new collection of bras and will have little use for their old ones. Rather than throwing their old bras away, we encourage patients to donate any new or gently used bras to those in need.

At their next appointment, any patients with new or gently used bras to spare can bring them to our office collection boxes. However, it’s important for people to understand that you do not have to be a BHP patient to contribute. We invite all those who wish to donate bras to stop by their offices and support women in need, and maybe learn a bit more about the work we do as well. Also, those who have donated are encouraged to contribute to the current air of awareness by spreading the word to friends and family.
