As perhaps the only reliable solution for solving the problem of severe obesity, the number of patients receiving bariatric surgery has been growing by leaps and bounds. As the number of weight loss surgeons has grown, now more than ever patients need to be selective and seek out the most reputable doctors in the field. Our own Monali Misra, M.D., F.A.C.S. has made her name by providing outstanding weight loss results for patients with a friendly, personal touch.
Known for her mastery of the full range of bariatric procedures, including often delicate revision procedures, Dr. Misra has been praised by numerous patients. “…Dr. Misra changed my life forever,” writes Lorraine on this web site. “I no longer have high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes and I love looking in the mirror and seeing the new me…I can never thank God enough for guiding me to Dr. Misra.”
Of course, changing the lives of patients does not come without a great deal of challenging education and training. Dr. Misra’s medical background began at the medical school of Canada’s University of Saskatchewan. From there, she moved on to a general surgery residency at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, where she eventually became an Assistant Professor of Surgery as well a Co-Director of the Bariatric Surgery program at St. Joseph’s Hospital, also in Hamilton. By 2004, Canada’s loss became California’s gain as she began work in laparoscopic and bariatric surgery at the world famous Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where she remains on staff to this day. Board certified in both the U.S. and Canada, Dr. Misra is a member of the American College of Surgeons and Canada’s Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. She is also a member of the Society for American Gastrointestinal & Endoscopic Surgeons and the American Society of Metabolic & Bariatric Surgeons.
Her credentials notwithstanding, patients appreciate Dr. Misra nearly as much for warm and empathetic manner as they do for the outstanding results she has helped them to obtain. That comes in especially handy prior to surgery when she makes sure that patients fully understand their procedures and what to expect in the days following their surgery. It is also important in the post-operative process. She works closely with our outstanding BHP team to ensure that patients benefit from nutritional counseling and any additional support they may need to complete their weight loss journey in the healthiest and most effective manner possible.
